Most Commonly Overlooked Vehicle Maintenance Items

Driving a car is a kind of luxury that many of us take for granted. We usually forget that operating a vehicle is a responsibility which can bring some very serious consequences and therefore it is extremely important to keep it maintained. Some of the car maintenance items that usually go over looked or ignored include:

Tires: Whichever type and brand of tires you are using, it is very important to check them regularly and make sure that they are not worn or damaged. It is advised to check the tires almost every week.

Brakes: The purpose of brakes is to stop or slow down a car when needed. If you put your step on the pedal of brake and it gets dashed down on the floor, you can get caught into real trouble. Some vehicles are equipped with brake warning light on the dashboard, which lights up when something is not right with the brake system. This light indicates trouble and it becomes necessary to check the system immediately. It is important to have your brakes checked on a regular basis during a professional vehicle maintenance inspection.

Headlights: A large number of pedestrians die every year because of faulty headlights in the vehicle. Properly maintained headlights help in seeing more clearly, and thus driving the car safely. It is good to replace the headlight bulbs once in a year.

Wipers: Many people do not think about changing their car’s wiper blades regularly. These are one of the cheapest and easiest parts of a car to be maintained. Change the wiper blades every six months, preferably before winter and during the spring season.

These are some of the car maintenance items that need to be checked regularly but often go ignored by the users. Keeping them in good condition is extremely important as you can be caught in real trouble if any one of them goes non-operational suddenly.
