Car paint just isn’t good looking enough. I want my car painted to look like a speed boat with some sort of metallic blue or red paint. Where can I get it and who does it?

In 2005, as part of our divorce agreement, my ex and I decided to keep the same auto insurance but under separate policies. We had been with this company for years. My policy was on auto pay meaning that the payments were taken directly from my account. He walked in to pay his.

About 6 months after the divorce, I was pulled over for a routine traffic stop and was told I was driving an uninsured vehicle. Without insurance, my registration was also invalid. Both tickets totaled 1K. My car was taken into impound. I checked and found the officer was correct. On good terms with my ex, I told him what happened. He said for the past 6 months, each time he went in to make a payment, the girl HIS was already paid.

Realizing what had happened. They were applying my payments to his automobile. I was furious. I notified the agent who initially did not want to accept blame, but since the payments were automatic and my account number was on each payment they took, they were responsible. The error was compounded by the fact that the cancellation notice went to HIS address (how dumb was that!) So I had no way of knowing that I was cancelled. I was without a car for 2 weeks and lost my job. After much haggling and many sleepless nights of wondering what to do without a job or a car, the insurance company finally admitted blame, paid the impound fees of $1,250.00. The agent also said they would handle the 2 tickets totaling 1K.

FAST FORWARD TO 2010
in my state, the county did a scofflaw sweep and I was summoned to court with over 5 thousand other delinquent drivers to address unpaid tickets. The order was come to court by April 30th or be arrested. Realizing this had to be a mistake, but fearful of the law, I stood in line for over 5 hours in blazing heat, then sat in court another 5 hours waiting for my day in court.

I was immediately threatened with arrest because the 2 tickets were not paid. Up to that moment, I had no idea the insurance company had not paid the 2 tickets. This time, not only was my insurance and registration cancelled, my license was suspended due to the age of the infraction (5 years). In front of the judge, I called the agents’ office only to be told by the secretary that they had no intention to pay the ticket. Paying to get the car out of impound was enough. When the judge heard this she was shocked and let me off with a promise to pay in 5 days. She made me promise not to drive. With no way to get home but drive, I took a chance, and was pulled over. The officer informed me that due to the vast number of outstanding cases, tags bearing our county name would be targeted for a while (talk about a police state!). I showed him my documents from the court and headed home.

This is a nightmare. Would I have a case if I filed suit against my insurance company for failing in their fiduciary responsibility to a 16 year client in good standing? By the way this company is one of the largest in the country.

The Geneva Motor Show has indicated that there is a strong interest for the greener cars across the Globe. Almost all the companies are gearing towards a green future. While Toyota is ahead in the race with the Prius being already successfully marketed, Chevrolet is catching up with Volt and Nissan is all set to launch Leaf.

From the initial results of Toyota?s Prius sales, it is clear the consumers are willing to lap up the hybrids. Nissan has been so successful in creating a buzz for the ?Leaf? that people are really anxious to have a ?Leaf? as a prized electric car possession. Infact, things seem to point towards a greener future for the cars.

However, the question behind all this glitz and glamour of new product launches for hybrid and electric vehicles is whether or not we are geared towards attaining green and electric environment? There are a few concerns on the way. Like the question that are we really so sure that the batteries that will drive electric cars won?t have any implicit or explicit impact on the environment? Or better still, who will be offering the batteries to provide a decent mileage on a full recharge of the battery? Or, who will fund the building of electric charging stations across streets and towns? Infact, there are more unanswered questions than the ones that have any concrete answer.

As of now, anything that does not have a gas-engine seems to be mistaken as a greener alternative. Compared to the present day CO2 emission-ridden automotive technology, the hybrids and electric cars seem to have been given a clean chit as far as environment is concerned. Nobody seems to be interested in thinking about common sense questions that are going to decide whether these cars will be eventually adopted for use by consumers.

And if the consumers were to adopt the hybrids globally, whether the cars will be adopted at the level of Lexus sales in the US or at the level of a normal and compact small car that is driven by majority population.

In the first instance, we need to understand whether automobile manufacturers would be able to deliver commercially viable hybrid vehicles. And they need to do so consistently. So, we are looking at a uniform supply of hybrids year after year. And on a similar basis, we are looking at consistent maintenance for these cars year on year. Are the manufacturers ok with this?

Next, we need to ask the source of batteries that will power the hybrids and electric cars. Current research and technology does not allow a very high mileage on a full-recharge of the batteries. Furthermore, the weight of the batteries and number of units that will be used to power-up these cars needs to be brought down for a mass-scale adoption of hybrids.

And then you need to consider the massive investment that needs to be made in creating docking stations for charging electric vehicles in towns. While the Governments have shown initial interests in putting in the investments to build charging stations, there are other operational and maintenance issues that need to be taken care of.

Finally, if the hybrids and electric cars were to remain within the realms of a few towns and States in the US and a few countries in the European market then the cars would qualify to be called electric gadgets rather than mass-market products that can drive people in the West and across the Globe.

Effective green technology needs to be able to produce products that are mass-market and not niche-dominated. While there is a clear fad for hybrids and electric vehicles as of now, next couple of years will throw in the pointers if the hybrid technology is able to deliver on what is promised ? A Green & Clean Environment across the Globe. Until then, we will continue to see a surge in scores of new vehicle launch ceremonies at motor shows across the Globe.

Japanese people are known the world over for their hard work, sincerity and commitment to their industry and country. Akio Toyoda?s initiatives to mitigate the impact of recent recalls and his apology to Chinese public and US Congressional Committee should be seen in the light of efforts being made by the Group to resurrect the brand of Toyota.

And, within one month of announcement of the first massive Global recall, Akio has finally had a reason to smile. Or should we say that the Japanese people have reposed their faith in Toyota. How else can you explain the 48% year-on-year increase in sales of Toyota vehicles in the month of February in Japan followed by 30% in China?

Toyota?s Japan sales indicate that the customers have given a huge thumbs-up to the beleaguered automotive giant. While Honda reported a 36% increase in February sales, Nissan managed an 18% increase. This makes Toyota the leader as far as increase in sales is concerned.

Interestingly, the maximum increase took place for the luxury model Lexus and its sales grew by 257% to 3373 units. One must spare a thought for the Lexus that has been at the heart of many lawsuits in the US. The details of February sales, as shared by the Japanese Automobiles? Dealers? Association (JADA), is sure to give a massive boost to Toyoda?s efforts in taking his Group past the recalls.

Figures from China indicate that Toyota?s sales increased by 30% in the month of February, and this is again based on a year-on-year calculation.
With China and Japan accounting for major markets of Toyota outside US and Europe, it seems that the Global recalls have not had much of an impact in these regions. On the contrary, it appears that the recalls worked to Toyota?s advantage and improved its ‘trust factor? and that has worked in its favour.

The people, at large, seem to have given an approval to Toyota?s recalls and have infact patted the automotive giant for going ahead with one of the most massive recalls in the auto-industry across the Globe.

It looks like the story that comes right off the tinsel town. An automotive giant goes in for a massive recall to fix issues with gas pedals, and then apologizes to the customers and regulatory authorities. It has had a glorious past and customer reputation. And with the recalls, it positions itself as a caring and responsible automotive provider.

Following the recalls, It ensures that the recalls go in a seamless way thereby impressing the people back home in Japan to consider that the Group did the best to fix a glitch that could have impacted any other manufacturer.

In essence, the company has been successful in portraying genuine intentions in addressing glitch in products. And it has definitely succeeded in sounding a responsible automotive manufacturer by admitting to its mistakes and subsequently apologizing to the consumers for all the inconvenience caused.

On its part, Toyota would have learnt the lessons a hard way. There is no doubt that the Company will need to put its house in order to prevent a recurrence of such a massive recall in future. And there is no doubt that the things had come to such a pass because of botch-ups. And it appears that a massive recall was the only way out for the Company.

Whether the Company succeeds in winning the confidence of US Congress is something that will unfold in the coming weeks. For now, the Company has reasons to cheer the trust of Chinese and Japanese.

For once, Toyoda can sleep easy. Things seem to be falling in place after a hectic pace of meetings, apologies and steps taken to stem the downslide.

Every single driver on the road should be aware of the benefits of purchasing an auto warranty. Whether you are buying a car right off the lot or have a used car, you can find a cheap auto warranty and this is going to be a huge benefit to you.

One of the biggest misconceptions that people have is thinking that auto warranties and insurance are the same thing. This is actually not the case at all and the two are very different from each other. Car insurance would cover you if you were in an accident whereas an auto warranty covers the cost of broken or faulty parts. Extended auto warranties are also known as auto service contracts, car repair warranties and auto maintenance warranties.

There are different types of auto warranty you can get, and depending on where you go and how much you are willing to spend on your warranty you can either get just a few specific parts covered or get a bumper-to-bumper auto warranty that covers pretty much everything.

To find a cheap auto warranty so you can get the best deal for your money, start by making a list of the top companies you could head to for a warranty. You can take a look in your local phonebook or go online and make things that much easier on yourself. If you want to find a cheap auto warranty you have to keep in mind that the actual cost of the warranty is not all you should be concerned with.

One of the aspects of a vehicle warranty is that it actually adds value to your automobile. If you were to sell your car, the unexpired part of the auto warranty contract actually has a value that can be estimated and included in the overall value of your car. So even if you were to sell your car in the middle of the auto warranty contract, you are unlikely to lose out.

Just because you may find one warranty that is less money than another that does not automatically mean it is the better deal. You also need to make sure you are aware of exactly what each warranty covers if you want to find a cheap auto warranty that is worth your money.

There are some great comparison sites and review sites online you can check out which will be helpful with this. These are going to make the whole process as quick and easy as possible for you. You simply give them the information once and they will do the work of comparing all the different quotes and finding you a cheap auto warranty that you can afford.

A lot of people skimp out on their auto warranty, figuring that they will never need it or that it is just a waste of money because if something does not happen to their car, they are still paying that money out for no reason. The thing is, it is always better to be safe rather than sorry. Why wait until something does happen and it is too late?

Everyone can rhyme off a dozen reasons why buying a new car is a great idea, so this article pours a little bit of rain on the new car parade.

Anyone getting a new car for the first time should be made aware that insurance rates for many new cars are higher than for older ones, even if it’s the same model. First of all, a new car is much more likely to be stolen. Secondly, the cost of repairs or replacement are higher, obviously because of the higher value of the car, and the need to use brand new parts only on recent vehicles.

We should also remember some of the acute anxieties associated with buying a new car. As anyone who has ever bought one knows only too well, it is a matter of days, if not hours, before some blockhead will drive up too close to your new car and bash his or her door edge into a gleaming side panel. Perhaps we should convince auto manufacturers to coat their cars with heavy teflon.

The used car lot is where the true automotive bargains are to be found. Finding the true ‘best buys’ is no easy feat, though; it is a search requiring lots of investigative work, and lots of patience.

Buying the perfect used car also means being able to pounce on a good buy without a moment’s hesitation, or it will fell into someone else’s hands. Whereas most new car buyers would boast that facing a new car salesperson is not for the faint of heart, the trials of dickering on the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of a new vehicle is pure child’s-play for those of us initiated into the search for the perfect used conveyance.

The world of used vehicles is governed by a guiding general negative principle subjected to the vagaries of individual circumstance and common sense which help make matters better.

A used vehicle is one which its previous owner did not want any longer: but, it may be that the automobile was no longer wanted because the lease was up, or the car rental agency renewed its fleet; but, it may be that the previous owner needed a different type of car for whatever reason other than lack of enjoyment or reliability; but, it may be that the first driver simply wanted that ‘new car smell’ back, but didn’t want it in a spray can.

All of these ‘buts’ point to instances where cars, although no longer wanted by the initial users, have lots of happy kilometres left to give. Put simply, this means that there are thousands of perfectly good, reliable, reasonably-priced used cars on the market at any given point in time.

Because these vehicles are ‘pre?owned’, they have gone through the major initial depreciation, allowing for reasonable prices. Many are in excellent mechanical condition. If bought from a reputable dealership, many come with good warranties too. For those of us who are unconcerned with the need to have a new car, for what-ever reason, the advantages of buying a used vehicle far outweigh the disadvantages.

Since depreciation levels off in the third year, and repair costs do not begin serious escalation until after the fourth year, the perfect car buy is somewhere in the middle.

Mercedes Benz, since they began manufacturing luxury automobiles in 1926, have become synonymous with style and cutting edge engineering. No, they?re not the cheapest of cars on the market, and to some people a Mercedes can be associated with a certain type of driver, much like their BMW counterparts. If you?ve got your heart set on a Mercedes Benz though, you?ll most probably be thinking how you can best afford one.

Times have been tough recently ? the credit crunch has been a real pain for the finances. Cash has been tight and the news has been spouting prophecies of economic doom and gloom for the rest of eternity. Still, things are looking up, and with the government?s scrappage incentive scheme coming to an end this March, you might be considering buying yourself a used Mercedes Benz. Why wouldn?t you? Bagging yourself a 1 year old, 6 litre AMG E63 with 1,500 miles on the clock for ?70,000 isn?t a bad deal is it? The 1500 miles will have done virtually nothing to the car?s reliability, so you?re buying a virtually new car, with a hefty chunk taken off of the price tag. The same goes for the lesser models of the range: a 1 year old 3 litre E class with 1,500 miles on the clock can be fetched for as low as ?30,000. Again, a hefty saving on the brand new prices eh? Buying a used car doesn?t have to mean settling for second best; buying an old banger. Quite the contrary, buying a used Mercedes Benz could mean making a wise investment; getting yourself exactly the car you want whilst saving a few pennies.

As with all used cars though, the older they get, the more miles they will have done and the more wary you should be of the cars? condition. Should you buy from an Approved Used Mercedes Benz dealer then you can be safe in the knowledge that the car will have passed a certain set of standards in order to be ?approved?. In other car dealers, however, where the standards may not be a stringent (if in existence at all), the choice is totally down to you. If you don?t know what to look out for, then ask! It?s better to know what to look for and avoid it, then having no idea and ending up with a nasty surprise!

On the other hand, with today?s somewhat transient lifestyles and the more uncertain finances leading to short term strategies, why not look up what contract hiring a car could do for you? Whether you go for 12 months, 24 months, 36 months or more, the thought of owning a brand new car (as opposed to a used Mercedes Benz), complete with comprehensive worry-free motoring could be a somewhat attractive concept, all neatly condensed into monthly payments.

So now you can see that although ownership of a Used Mercedes Benz may not be the most fiscally sound option, it is very much worthwhile and will provide you with some fantastic motoring experiences.

If you auto?s passenger compartment is too chilly this winter ? even though you have your car?s interior heater blasting away ? and your vehicle?s engine is no doubt warmed up ? then your problem can easily be your automobile engines ?thermostat?. The thermostat in your auto?s power plant works somewhat in a similar ? though somewhat in a different manner than the thermostat at your home or office.

Although an auto gasoline engine must be cooled by the radiator and cooling system, your engine cannot be cooled excessively. Engine parts work better and best within certain temperature ranges. Most motorists know full well that there vehicle?s engine performs best when ?warmed up?. To warm up the temperature quickly and maintain the temperature at a desired level, an automotive component called a ?thermostat ?is employed.

The thermostat is basically an automatic temperature sensitive valve, which is closed until the glycol anti-freeze engine coolant warms up sufficiently. The closed thermostat keeps the engine coolant circulating at that point only throughout the engine ? as opposed to being circulated in the cooling system ? including the radiator ? whose job is to reduce and eliminate heat. Instead of allowing cool fluid to pass needlessly through the radiator ? cooling the antifreeze fluid ?down? and thus preventing the fluids from warming up, a closed thermostat does its job well, and thus retains and limits circulating coolant fluids in the warm areas of the engine only. Hence you?re motor, and eventually the warm coolant which will flow to the heater of your automobile?s interior can warm up much much faster and give you the luxury of good heat output ? and thus a nice and toasty warm car interior. Once the engine does indeed warm up, the thermostat will function accordingly opening up its passageway and permitting the now warm coolant to flow through, into the hose on top of the radiator. By now you as an auto driver will be enjoying a good flow of solid heat from the heater inside of the passenger compartment.

The coolant in a standard, typical engine is generally maintained at temperatures in the ranges of 180 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit. On a hot day in the summer however, coolant temperatures may rise greatly to as high as 250 degrees F., particularly if the engine itself is being strained and working hard. This can occur for example when a vehicle is climbing a mountain, pulling a heavy trailer behind it, or even sitting in heavy traffic where the air circulation is poor.

However thermostats sometimes fail. They may just not work, they may be old a non functional or any of a number of reasons. If the thermostat of your car fails ? is non-functional and remains in an ?open ?position, then the anti-freeze in your engine and of course interior heater core, can never really warm up and get hot. A thermostat that always remains open, and cannot close, often on the cold and certainly the coldest days will never allow engine coolant to fully heat up. Cold heating fluid to your car heater, and thus little or no heat what so ever. True this may be an inconvenience of sorts to you and your motoring party. In addition however this can well be a safety hazard as well.

Without a functioning heater in your passenger compartment ? and especially if you are transporting a number of passengers ? your defrost function of your heater will not work well. Your defroster may throw up air onto the windshield. However it can only be cold air which will not thaw out frost on the windows. On top of that if you have passengers additional condensation and frost may well be deposited on all your windows as well ? obstructing your view of the road and roadways and creating unnecessary driving hazards.

The automotive and safety message is. If your engine will not warm up sufficiently ? even in summertime driving, then it?s a simple matter to have your vehicle?s engine thermostat checked. If this automotive component is found or deemed to be troublesome or not functioning correctly then it?s a simple and relatively inexpensive matter of replacement of the thermostat part by your local garage, auto dealer or local mechanic.
